Religion & Racism

Since years religion has united us,

made us a diverse family,

Religion is what gives us a hope,

to try get rid of the agony.

But religion has also given us,

an opportunity to stereotype one’s race,

to think that one’s religion,

will somehow finish their grace.

Sometimes religion parts us,

into different worlds of our own,

sometimes it connects us,

and doesn’t let us live life alone.

Hindus may believe in Lord Vishnu,

Christians in Jesus,

Muslims believe in Allah,

but about it, people make a fuss.

We need to stop the argument,

making the innocent seem guilty,

stop the terrorism to stop terror,

and to stop beautiful words seem filthy.

We are slowly drowning the hopes,

which are alive in the people’s mind,

racism is taking over this world,

which is making us blind.

Who says it’s wrong to be religious,

who says it’s right to underestimate someone?

Who says it’s wrong to live together as a family,

who says it’s right to raise the gun?

Together let’s build a great generation. Drop the negativity & make the world a better place to live…

Hi! I am a 13-year-old currently studying in the Netherlands. For 5 years, I was studying in London and moved to India for some time in July 2019. First of all, I love playing the western flute and have been playing for quite a few years now. Playing and also, listening to music is definitely my passion. Some sports I enjoy playing are badminton, netball, swimming, football, cricket (these are the top 5!). Ok, so let’s talk about poetry. I wrote my first poem in a primary school in England and this inspired me to start writing poems on WordPress. Some of my recent poems are about global issues such as climate change, depression, bullying etc. Writing poetry is another passion of mine…so, check out my poems on WordPress. I don’t know what else I could say here so, hope you love my poems…..happy reading!!
