Lost

Why stress, anxiety and feeling lost is really a celebration

I was feeling lost a few days ago, were you? It was the same people and same voices. Before, I would only travel in my dreams. I dreamt of tasting famous street foods, meeting old friends, making new friends and the wind caressing my hair. I used to look outside the window and see nothing left to be seen. I wished for the traffic to return, the yellow bridge to get filled with honking cars, the people to take a stroll in the nearby park.

I was feeling lost a few days ago, were you? I looked outside the window again, and saw things unfamiliar. The empty roads again; nothing changed. Where were the honking cars, where was the traffic? Yet again, there was no soul wandering outside. But I bet the air was fresh, smelling like cherry blossoms or fruits or the fragrances from ‘distant lands.’

Today I look outside again, wishing for the better world. And I see it. Shops are finally opening, the children are laughing and playing football together. United at last. I go outside as well and breathe my first breath. It does smell amazing. Just like I imagined it to be.

Hi! I am a 13-year-old currently studying in the Netherlands. For 5 years, I was studying in London and moved to India for some time in July 2019. First of all, I love playing the western flute and have been playing for quite a few years now. Playing and also, listening to music is definitely my passion. Some sports I enjoy playing are badminton, netball, swimming, football, cricket (these are the top 5!). Ok, so let’s talk about poetry. I wrote my first poem in a primary school in England and this inspired me to start writing poems on WordPress. Some of my recent poems are about global issues such as climate change, depression, bullying etc. Writing poetry is another passion of mine…so, check out my poems on WordPress. I don’t know what else I could say here so, hope you love my poems…..happy reading!!
