If I could take out my wand
and flick it around a little
I would make the cupboard under the stairs talk
I would want to hear it whistle.
Would it complain about its damp walls
and how, instead, it needs to made of glass
or would it gossip about the “gas meter” man
how, each time, he fills the room with his own smelly gas?
Would it chatter about the time
Harry Potter was spending his young days
with an ordinary cupboard
with a room full of nothing but dirt and haze?
Would it proudly talk about the time
it never let the Dursleys in
using its power of untidiness and bad smell
and inviting in spiders, some fat and some thin?
Would it quietly mourn over the past years
of wondrous wizards and witches
would it miss its best friend, Harry
who left to become great and rich?
I’m sure of one thing, though:
the cupboard under the stairs
would be proud to be part of
such a magical era full of smiles, tears and prayers.
Hi! I am a 13-year-old currently studying in the Netherlands. For 5 years, I was studying in London and moved to India for some time in July 2019. First of all, I love playing the western flute and have been playing for quite a few years now. Playing and also, listening to music is definitely my passion. Some sports I enjoy playing are badminton, netball, swimming, football, cricket (these are the top 5!). Ok, so let’s talk about poetry. I wrote my first poem in a primary school in England and this inspired me to start writing poems on WordPress. Some of my recent poems are about global issues such as climate change, depression, bullying etc. Writing poetry is another passion of mine…so, check out my poems on WordPress. I don’t know what else I could say here so, hope you love my poems…..happy reading!!
